Breaking Ground

(2023)
Solo exhibition at The New garden Galerie

Both broken and everlasting, ancient and synthetic, mighty and banal. We’ve come to know the doughy crust that separates everything we know from burning hot magma at the center of the earth; as the ground.
We draw lines and play games on it, dig holes and plant crops in it, extract minerals and dump waste in it. We are repulsed by it between our nails, yet love it in face masks. We adore its beauty but find it unsightly in the wrong place. What on earth is our deal with the ground?

The Art Of Communication #1

(2023)
Installed and performed at Les Beaux-Arts de Paris as The Church of Work w/ Kyle Keese

Reality TV becomes TV reality through this participatory installation. Taking cues from the public access television show ‘Glenn O'Brien's TV Party’ (1978-1982), this work takes shape as a fully equipped broadcasting suite live streaming to Youtube. The audience is invited to engage with the set as they please. What happens next is in many ways a social experiment. The means of production have been democratised. How does one occupy this space and how does it in fact impose itself on the viewer turned creator?

Red bar

(2022)
Created for ‘Listen Care Fully’ at Poush Manifesto as The Church of Work w/ Kyle Keese

Part installation, part performance, and part beer advertisment. Red Bar was the result of Aapo Nikkanen inviting The Church of Work to build an 'art bar' for the show 'Listen Care Fully' at Poush Manifesto. A couple of workers and some salvaged materials temporarily reconfigured into a haven for a happening.

The Sweat Temple

(2022)
Shown at ‘Bread & Salt’ The Community Center as The Church of Work w/ Kyle Keese

A mobile sauna that marked Michael Price and Kyle Keese's inaugural collaboration as The Church of Work. Built primarily with reclaimed materials and embellished with original sacred works during a three-month residency at The Community Centre, Pantin to celebrate the camaraderie and joy derived from labor itself.
